And this is My Story:
I found out about Ripple of One at 3:00 am through a random social media post with a previous participant’s story. She mentioned how Ripple had changed her and her children's lives and that's exactly what I wanted for me and my daughter, Elisa. Right then, in the middle of the night, I applied hoping to get accepted into the program. At that time I was having issues connecting with my daughter. It had always been just her and I and we were always so close until she hit her teens. It was a very hard time in my life. I was also going through a lot of changes and I didn't know how to handle it alone.
Learning to manage my money better was the first change I started to really see while in the Ripple of One program. I already did well with my finances but I had never budgeted before. Learning how to budget has changed my life completely. It has allowed me to save a lot more and know how to plan ahead of time for big expenses. The best part is that I have taught this new skill to my teenage daughter, which will set her up for financial success in the future.
Although learning how to budget was definitely life-changing, my proudest accomplishment while in the program is having a better bond with my daughter. We get along and do things together now. That was my biggest goal, and it was accomplished thanks to all the support and resources Ripple provided for Elisa and me.
For any new participant first coming into the program, I would tell them it is a lot of work but it's worth every bit of it. Don't give up on your goals. Stay strong and pull through. If others can go through the program, you can too!! To all of the donors, volunteers and supporters of Ripple I just want to say thank you for everything you do for us. We are all so grateful for your support. Ripple truly was a lifesaver for me. Through the program I learned how to budget for the future and was able to reconnect with my daughter and handle living on my own as a single mom. I’ll always be thankful for my time as a participant and what I gained through the Ripple of One program!
