Finding hope

March 24, 2016 – 12:17 am |

If I had to sum up the most important thing to me while in Ripple it would be HOPE. Ripple of One has given me hope.

When I first applied to Ripple of One I had to write an essay on what I wanted out of life—-and I referenced this quote… "give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” I used that particular quote because that's what I want – self-sufficiency. I want to take care of my kids and myself on my own.  Not being able to take care of my kids without relying on others has drained my hope. The past 18 months that I've been in Ripple have been some of the hardest but also the best months of my life. This is because I have started to feel hopeful.

When I left my ex-husband a couple years ago I did not know what I was going to do or what my future would hold.

But when I got to the end of me and felt I had nothing left, God miraculously opened doors and brought my family here to Seneca SC where I enrolled in the Ripple of One program. I had a lot of trepidation and tons of doubt but little by little my hope returned. I was able to get a house– Ripple didn't give me my house but they are the ones who are helping me KEEP my house. The support that I receive from my Ripple mentor and team has empowered and instilled hope in me that things will work out!  Ripple has given me hope to do the things that I need to do but has given me even more hope to do the things that I want

to do. I am now on my way… to reaching my dreams.

Note from Stephanie Enders:

Magan Slusser is a strong woman who is prime example of a struggling mother who has gift but needed the courage to use it.  Magan came into our program with no savings and some debt. She has worked with our team to create a overall plan, monthly goals and new habits. With her Ripple match, Magan now has $3,000 in her savings and has paid off $1000 in debt.  She also recently obtained a full time position working with children at a child development center. Magan loves going to work!  This is a journey but Magan and her Ripple team believe that she is now on the path that God has created for her life.
